Christmas 2006 in Kentucky

Well, Christmas 2006 in Kentucky whizzed by faster than a President can push a lil' red button. Even though it went by quickly, we sure had a great time spending time with OUR precious family. We arrived in Kentucky Saturday morning around 1am (10 hour driving time from our doorstep, average 74.28mph the whole way -- Great time!!) and we caught up on the latest with Bill and Teresa while eating ice cream around the kitchen island...always a treat for me. Saturday was spent watching football, opening presents and enjoying the company of my new grandparents by marriage (Fred and Valerie Hall of Allen,KY.) to their granddaughter. Don't send them a letter by name only or they just might receive it... haha, gotta love Eastern Kentucky. I'm always amazed at the deals Fred can find at the flea market and the sound that little woman can make when she snores while sleeping (There's no denying it now Valerie....I heard it for myself!). Bill, Teresa, Fred, Valerie and SANTA gave us WAY more than we deserve and were very very generous with their gifting...I especially enjoyed the tools and my new wire snips. We all enjoyed a fabulous meal that Teresa and Valerie prepared for us all which significantly added to my already growing "married" belly...Thanks alot guys! Church on Sunday morning was quite a hoot as usual. I saw "the voice" as I call him in all his gray haired splendor, enjoyed many hugs from people I can't quite remember, and I saw the other personality of the church, their gray haired Braille-reading member ( I hear he's off his meds...whew) Mike Johnson, the Richmond Church of Christ "minister" gave an eloquent sermon that as always is a pleasure to witness in person....after which we had a "second coming" of the aforementioned fabulous meal making me sleepy beyond all recognition and made that couch recliner near the beautifully decorated christmas tree quite appealing to a fat bellied country boy like myself....i ate so much that my food nearly had a resurrection. :)

Our Somerset experience with my parents was an event that I couldn't give justice to using words alone. It was equally as fantastic seeing my mom and dad, sister, brother John, Abigail( awwwww...), and my grandparents of my mothers side Doris and Billy Paul. I miss them all so very much and I'd give my left earlobe to be nearer to them in Kentucky. Oh what a time we had and as the usual family tradition goes with the guys in the living room all quiet and sleepy and the girls in the kitchen cacklin' like hens (Jessica included this year!) dishin' out the latest in family news and social happenings. We all witnessed Abigail walking and attempting to talk (first time for me) which in itself made the trip worthy of itself. Equally as fantastic a meal was prepared by my mother and grandmother on Christmas day which again added to my girth (tried to hold back a bit this time). My mother and her awesome cornbread sage sprinkled dressing and my grandmother with her delectable dumpling creations...and the after dinner treats mom prepared were stupendous as usual. Yummmmm.... Disclaimer: my wife is an excellent cook and in no way does this blog entry in any way detract from her abilities as a wife or cook. In addition, in no way does this entry have or imply any indication that I an dissatisfied with the food that my wife prepares in our home on a daily basis for me and our dog. Yes, you heard it, we have a dog named Kylee. She's a miniature Australian Shepherd and she is as cute as a button. She is a pleasure to be around and has a temperment that rivals Mandy Snapp (aka. the ultimate dog and the envy of dogs around the world)

Well folks, my fingers are wrecked and need a break... and the ole' lady is giving me the evil eye over the top of the couch cuz i've been on the computer longer than my daily allowance....so for now I'll leave everyone that cares to read my blog with this..... I hope everyone had a Great Christmas and I hope you have an even better New Year.....Cheers (as I tip my Fruit flavored water in the air to my family, friends and blog readers around the world)

PS. Dean.... I envy your poutin' house!
